This doesn't answer or contribute to answering your question, BUT for
backup (recording) purposes, (if you don't already have one) I recommend
TASCAM and / or Zoom digital audio recorders, money well spent.  Can also
pitch your questions and look at gear at Trew audio by Metrocenter.
