Because the mhbuild step can only turn a non-MIME email into a MIME one; it can't handle being given a MIME email as input. That's one niggle with running "mime" at the moment; if the mhbuild-directives need improving and "mime" run again, one must undo the "mime" manually by looking for the backup file in the drafts folder as there's no "undomime" command.
