I value technical contributions, and asking for benchmarks in response to
some of the comments made was an attempt to get facts rather than wishy
washy comments.

I did that in several posts. One in particular pointed out the things you
will have to support in order to equate to what nginx is doing under the
hood. That's a technical contribution, even if it didn't provide code.
