Currently I have a small amount of code on top of https.request that sets utf8 and concats the response -- not sure why you are saying I have lots of code. I would see this as being very similar to the setEncoding functionality. Given the decompression code is already there (I'm assuming), I fail to see the negative impact. What am I missing?
