We abled xls import in a big node project, however we had to use ... Apache
POI + some java code to deal with it (however we controlled the java
process from a node program).

It works pretty fine, but steel, we would have prefered either use a JS
solution, or even make bindings from a C library, but we did not found
something very good.

We're hopping that the refactorings from libreoffice will someday lead to
some library to deal with xls/xlsx (and any format supported by
libroffice/openoffice), a bit like what libpurple did from pidgin.

cheers,
Florian
