I was wrong (and happy about it)!  This is working in the latest unstable 
version of node/v8:

$ node -e 'console.log(process.versions.v8)'
3.20.2
$ node --harmony-iteration --harmony-generators
> function* gen() { yield 'foo'; yield 'bar'; }
undefined
> for (var item of gen()) { console.log(item); }
foo
bar

Awesome! Not sure how I missed that this was added...
