Not sure which one has to do with the other, but install the version 
compatible with the extensions you're using and that supports the features 
you need.

I personally love io.js 2.0; some great work went into that release and 
it's fast and stable for me. 

Either way you go, make sure you update npm afterward. Being on the latest 
there is a good thing.
