Hi Noisebridge! In the past few weeks, a few classes on Git have been taught. It just so happens that a class on Git is also part of the Front-end Web Development curriculum. This is open to everyone and does not focus on web development in particular.
This class is a general overview on version control and the command line. I've taught how to use an FTP client to upload files to the web, but the truth is that most developers don't do that anymore - rather, they collaborate with their peers by using version control systems, which allows them to keep track of their work in a reliable fashion and push it to the web. Again, this class isn't about web development per se - it's just an important introduction to using the command line to work with Git, one of the most popular version control systems. Everyone will create their own fork of a repository and check in their work. There is no recap period for this class. No need to come a half hour early. If you can't make it to next week's lecture, you can watch a live video stream of the class. Join this Google+ Event to be notified of when to hop on (you don't have to be a Google+ member): https://plus.google.com/events/ce97kicqaqbk2ku4odj7e6rsfgo This video stream will also be available to watch after the class is complete. WORTH NOTING: As sheer coincidence. Rails School is teaching a class on more in-depth Git techniques on Tuesday! If you find Monday's class helpful, come same time next day. http://www.railsschool.org/ My class starts on Monday at 8pm, and goes until 10pm! Plan to arrive EARLY, as the class has been filling up very fast. This class does go in a series, but the series can last up to half a year. Don't let it discourage you if you're starting from the middle - attend recaps and labs and you should be able to catch up! This class and the space in which it's taught are entirely free to attend. Please bring a laptop. Read all of the details here: https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Front-end_Web_Development Jeffrey
