The debug build doesn't trigger the fp exception. The non-debug build did leave messages like this in /var/log/syslog however: Mar 15 17:56:17 zann0 kernel: [29703.408269] traps: non-timeline[5414] trap divide error ip:7f183e87a8bb sp:7f1833b7fbb0 error:0 in libsndfile.so.1.0.25[7f183e871000+61000] Looks like you were right about libsndfile.
