The death of Sanu following inhuman acts of torture resorted to by a gang of senior students was a shock to the entire village of Vilakkannur. Sanu, who was a second year BSc Catering student of Erod Chitod Amman Arts and Science College had been severely beaten up by a group of Malayalee students of the same college in the guise of ragging on Sunday. A kick on his stomach inflicted by the group turned fatal and he died at the hospital later. The college had earned much notoriety for ragging, according to some of the students who accompanied the body of Sanu. The parents of Sanu were making use of loans taken from banks to provide professional education to their son.
