CUTTACK: The ragging slur rocking the prestigious Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya here took a turn on Tuesday when the principal of the school vehemently denied the allegations saying there is not an iota of truth in the reports published about ragging and bullying in the school. It was earlier reported that a class VI girl student of the school was allegedly “striped” by fellow students and was asked to dance and sing in the hostel even as she was sick--running with high fever. Unable to bear the ordeal, the girl’s father reportedly decided to put his daughter back in the local private school. But Mundali-based Navodaya School Principal Mr. S.B. Rao in his report to the district Collector, who is also the chairman of the school, has clarified that the allegations of ragging are baseless. The girl’s father Mr Sukanta Kumar Nanda had sought TC of his daughter on July 20 on medical ground and the same was issued to him on July 22, the principal said. “At the time of receiving the TC, Mr Nanda had never mentioned about any ragging or bullying to his daughter during her brief stay in the school. He had also not reported any such complaints to any school authority till date”, the principal has said in his report adding that Mr. Nanda had once barged into the school hostel in an inebriated condition in the evening to meet his daughter. He had also entered into an altercation with the house mistress and the staff nurse, the principal alleged. The report also indicated that the girl was admitted in the school on July 13 and went on medical leave from July 14 to 18 as she was suffering from fever.
