Ghaziabad: Two 1st year students of a private law college here alleged
Friday that they had been thrashed by their seniors after they did not
cooperate during a ragging session. The incident occurred in the Mewar
Law College in Ghaziabad Friday afternoon.

"Some of us (1st year students), including three girls, were called by
our seniors and asked to give our introductions. Soon however, the
questions became personal and we objected. Some other seniors, however,
intervened and they let us go," Keshav, one of the victims, told.

"But as we went outside the college, eight boys came in a car and
thrashed both Vivek Tiwari and me," Keshav said.

"We went and complained to the college chairman about the incident. The
management told us to submit a written complaint and promised action
against the seniors.

"The chairman also warned the senior boys. On the chairman's word, the
seniors have apologised to us," Keshav said. "We had also called the
police control room but the police did not come. We shall complain to
the police again," Keshav said.

Circle officer (Indirapuram) Rahul Srivastava denied having received
any complaint from anyone in this regard.

A senior management official of the Mewar Law College, said: "The
seniors have apologised. The matter has been sorted out. Even Vivek's
father has accepted their apology and wants no future action against
them."
