In case anyone is interested, I just hacked scintilla editor.cxx and produced
the desired "maintain vertical selection for input" action.
Now if one has:
Name phone
bob 1115558111
billy 1115551111
jane 1115556543
and you want to add ( ) and - so all the phone numbers look like (111)
555-8111,
Just select a zero-width rectangle at the desired positions for all the phone
numbers, then hit the '(', ') ' and '-' keys at the appropriate places. Works
for me and I love it.
Note that at this time is is a hack, because blank lines within the selection
will get the new characters too. I'll be fixing that...
If anyone is interested, respond to this post and let me know how to get you
the code...
chuckles.
ps. N++ really is great.

The "Keep non existing file" dialog appears every time the Notepad++ window
is selected if you are editing a deleted file. Preferred behavior would be for
to display this dialog only once. If the user chooses "yes" then the tab should
have a different status.

Better syntax Highlightning should be great..
Like TextMate or the new InType does.
And possibility to use themes so we, the users, can exchange with others.

I agree a optional ruler at the top would be nice. PSPad also has a ruler

Check your Settings->Preferences...
Look under MISC tab, File Status Auto-detection section
Check the appropriate boxes.
Also, you can reload the file from disk manually from the menu item File->Reload

XP. Note I only get the crash on exit if both the functionlist view is enabled
and if 'Remember the current session for next launch' option in Preferences\MISC
is unchecked.

The easiest update is to type "could" in the first line, column mark the good
and bad words, and select TextFX | Edit | Fill Down Overwrite.

Sorry, but I havn't programmed for seven years. I no longer have a compile/link
environment.
Is it possible that you are using a newer version of the Microsoft Windows
Toolkit,
which no longer supports Windows 95?
