Did you installed it by Aspell installation routine? Did you download the files
from
http://aspell.net/win32/
For me there are no problems.
What kind of dictionaries do you installed? What's your OS?
Best Regards
Jens

Notepad is already very very good and very helpfull.
But it could be very very better with this functionality. I think that notepad++
will be the best text editor without contest (may be even better than ultraedit)
with a good column mode and not only scintilla column mode.

Reason is that this ctrl+r is a functionnality made by a plug-in and not a
"real"
part of notepad++ but it is usefull, so for me there is no problem, it's good.

Hi,
two new plug-ins for Notepad++ 4.x have just been publish: searchInFiles and
lightExplorer.
SearchInFiles scans files for a string, allowing you to keep different searches
in different tabs. If you are like me, you are not interested in searching jpg,
mp3, png or so files: SearchInFiles allows you to configure what files
extensions
should not be searched. To activate it use ALT+Q and ALT+Z to show / hide the
dockable pane.
LightExplorer is a dockable file tree that allows you to keep favorites folders,
and is able to show you your network neighborhood. You can specify too, what
file extension files should be opened by Notepad++ and which ones should be
handed over to the OS when you select them. I tried to make it fast, specially
when opening the network neighborhood. To show / hide it use ALT+A and ESC or
TAB to give focus back to Notepad++.
If someone has bugs, suggestions or questions, can post them here, or reach
me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks, let's make notepad++ a big project.
Jose J Sanjos?

I opened a 2M bytes file and Selected some area(very small block).
Then pressed Ctrl+F3.
I waited tens of seconds, why? I just selected 3 lines.

Hi
I have a question regarding this very useful piece of software.
I am looking for a way to insert an exclamation mark (!) in front of marked
lines and remove them again if needed. Either a function already in Notepad++
or a plug-in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That would be easy to do in a language where the comment line was indicated
by "!".
As a test, create a user-defined language called, say, "Bang". Select "View
> User Define Dialog...". Click "Create New..." and call the language "Bang"
(or whatever you prefer). On the "Comment & Number" tab, enter "!" (without
the quotes) in the large edit box within the Comment Line group. I also suggest
changing the forground color to something like green. Close the dialog.
Now open up a test document. Select "Bang" (or whatever you chose) from the
Language menu. Then mark a block. You can toggle the "!" mark three different
ways: hot key (default is Ctrl-Q), right mouse button's popup menuitem ("Block
comment/uncomment"), or Edit menuitem ("Block comment/uncomment").
You can change the language back to whatever it is at that point. The
user-defined
language is saved in userDefineLang.xml when you close Notepad++. --Joel

It sounds like an omission in the langs.xml file.
You could just add those words as user-defined words to the INSTRUCTION WORD
style for Matlab under "Settings > Style Configurator...".
If you want those words to be a separate purple color, you could do the
following.
This adds a "TYPE WORD" entry to the matlab style in the Styler Configurator.
First make a backup of your langs.xml file in the Notepad++ directory or in
a subdirectory under the %APPDATA% directory, depending on your install choice.
Then open the langs.xml file in Notepad++.
If the matlab entry doesn't have a "type1" keywords line (mine doesn't), you
could try inserting this line immediately after the <Keywords name="instre1">
line:
<Keywords name="type1">equal short</Keywords>
Put in whatever other special terms you want to treat the same way. Save the
file.
Open the stylers.xml file in Notepad++. Copy the "<WordsStyle name="TYPE WORD"
..." line from the <LexarType name="c" ...> entry and paste it into the
<LexarType
name="matlab" entry. Anywhere inside the <LexarType> XML block is okay, as
long as it is just like the other entries, on its own line.
Save the file, close Notepad++ and reopen it. You can configure it then to
your liking.
The problem with this is that newer Notepad++ versions will overwrite these
files, so you should a) make a backup of the files when you are happy with the
results, and b) submit a change request of the Notepad++ powers-that-be to
correct
the omission. --Joel

Hi,
If I define a new language as userdefined, is there any easy way to move this
new userdefined language to another computer? I dont won't to type all
information
manually again.
Thanks,
Daniel

I had the 'dictionaries are missing' error until I set an environment variable
as the Aspell Readme-win32.txt file suggests. I went into System Properties
(right click My Computer, select Properties) and Advanced tab...Environment
Variables (this for Windows 2000).
Set Variable Name: ASPELL_CONF
Set Variable Value: <path of Aspell folder>

Thanks Mark! That was it!
It would be nice if N++ stored this info someplace,
I can't stand env vars pollution...
I'll have to wrap N++ in a batch file that defines
the variable for the session.
