Thats the only reason that keeps me sticking to ultraedit or the good old
crimson
editor, their column mode is great...

I have the same problem. But when I download a npp in zip file (not installer)
unpack in separate folder. Then I put ruby blu styler.xml to new npp folder
- and it's OK. I think that this problem appear when you install npp in language
not English.

I found that copying the config.xml from the program files\notepad++ directory
to the documents and settings\application data\notepad++ directory fixed this
problem.
I also deleted all of the files from the session.xml in the documents and
settings\application data\notepad++ directory...
This is in response to the problem "load config.xml failed"

Cool application you have here
I'm using ur notepad++ and it's very helpful and convenient to use.
Could I make a suggestion of feature?
I would like to suggest a Status bar wherein it display the Line# and Column#
so that when cursor is at line 1 column 5 it will be displayed in the status
bar.
In these way it is easier to track the error from the file. It's just a
suggestion..

Try TextFX: TextFX Tools: Insert Line Numbers.
You could also do it with a set of macros, but TextFX, possibly with a search
and replace to remove leading 0's, will be much faster for this,

In Notepad++ 4.0.2 I cannot find the place where I can set the tabulator width
and the choice to insert spaces instead of a tab character when I press the
tab key. Who knows it?

There is simple method to make log in usual notepad.
Very simple - write ".LOG" (without qoutes) on first string,
then just open when you need add smthng -
and you'll automatically get current date and time.

Partly found the reason and a workaround myself.
workaround: change all affected extension associations from notepad.exe (i.e.
notepad++ launcher) to notepad++ itself --> launcher issue
possible reason: IZArc creates a temporary file and invokes the associated
application. When "the application" returns it deletes this file. This works
fine of course if "the application" is the editor (notepad++) itself. The
launcher
however, may return (after having invoked notepad++) at a time notepad++ has
not yet opened the file.
--> From IZarc's point of view the launcher is "the application" and deletes
the file *before* notepad++ has opened it. So it's a question of timing (how
fast ist the editor redirect compared to to the archiver delete) if this
combination
works or not.
If this is true the launcher should not return before notepad++ itself does.
