Yes, just like TextPad with File>Rename..., not File>Save As...

Thank you,

Daniel

For what version? Some of these kinds of problems have been fixed; see the
beta version 1.2 for Notepad++ 4.0x at the Plugins support SourceForge page
-- https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins -- on one of the menus. Also,
you can post your bug reports there.

There is another upcoming version that will address still other issues. --Joel

For a second instance of Notepad++, just add " -multiInst" to the command line
on a shortcut that launches Notepad++. See:

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/cmdLine-HOWTO.php

For a split window on the same document, or two documents side-by-side
or top-and-bottom, see:

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/multiView-HOWTO.php

"View source"? That sounds like you are trying to use Internet Explorer. In
that case I'd recommend reinstalling version 4.0.2 via the installer (not the
zip file) and selecting the option to make Notepad++ the default editor for
editing IE source. At that time (I think) you can also add right-mouse-button
pop-up menu options to edit selected files with Notepad++. --Joel

On the Preferences dialog, on the MISC tab, in upper left corner in version
4.0.2: Tab Setting. Click on the number to change the tab setting, then press
Enter to accept the change you make in the field of the small dialog that
appears.

I'm pretty sure it's a standard XP directory. If you open Windows Explorer
and enter that directory in the address bar, it should open it for you even
though it is a hidden system directory. (You may need to be running as admin
or with admin rights.)

If you want to see it, open Windows Explorer, select Tools > Folder Options...,
click on the View tab. On the Advanced settings: list, uncheck "Hide protected
operating system files (Recommended)" and click OK. Recheck it later to reduce
the clutter. --Joel

I use Alt-012 to enter a formfeed character into the file (I'm using ANSI
encoding).
I don't know if that gets sent to the printer, but it puts "FF" in white letters
over black background into my file, and that is definitely a formfeed character.

You can also open a new document and select the "TextFX > TextFX Tools > Insert
Ascii Chart or Character" menuitem to show an ASCII chart, then copy/paste most
of the control characters that appear in that document's right-hand column (not
NUL, CR, LF, or TAB, though). --Joel

Copied from the Open Discussion forum:

This is not happening on my 4.0.2 setup. If you are not using version 1.2 of
the Explorer plugin, you might need to remove the Explorer.dll from your
Notepad++/plugins directory. You can get the latest version of the plugin from
the Notepad++ Plugins beta page, https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins
-- see the download section. --Joel

You should be using version 1.2 of the Explorer plugin (or later) with NPP 4.0.2
(or later). You can get the latest version of the plugin from the Notepad++
Plugins beta page, https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins -- see the
download
section. Copy the DLLs (Explorer.dll and FunctionList.dll) into your
Notepad++\plugins subdirectory.

To duplicate that display on the left side you need to check the menuitems for
both Explorer (Plugins > Explorer > Explorer) and Function List (Plugins >
Function
List > List...). This pops them up on the screen, where you can dock them on
the left. You can also do the same for the Favorites list (Plugins > Explorer
> Favorites), but it will initially appear on the left if you have already
> docked
the file explorer. Click-drag the Favorites tab to the right to dock it there.

There are other cool plugins at that site as well. --Joel

It's a bug, I'm pretty sure. I was able to add them by opening up the
stylers.xml
file and simply editing the "BBB_xxx" stuff to be "BBB_DELETE BBB_NEW" and
saving
it. When I reopened Notepad++, the keywords showed up highlighted as they
should
after I typed them. --Joel

I think it is worth to have feature to delete duplicate lines, which is required
many times. Similar to feature availble in TextPad. TextPad provides option
to delete duplicate lines while sorting.
