Following on from my report (top of the list) on memory usage in Find in Files.
I can confirm that my XP Home laptop using the same folder on my main PC over
the LAN also uses all available memory (though more slowly probably because
it is a slower system) and has to be aborted in Task Manager. CPU usage is
anything
from 10% to 100%.
As such recursive folder searches is totally unusable, sorry.
Mark B.

Ok !
Effectively I solved it by replacing the HexEditor.dll plugin from the newest
one.
Thanks.

A question related to this issue: does anyone know a good, free utility to
convert
character encoding for files in batch?
I want to change character encoding for a number of files. I start with one.
I open the file with UCS-2 Little Endian encoding and switch to Format, ANSI.
This is seen as a change, since the disk icon on the tab turns red.
But there seems no way to undo this change.
Also, when I change back to UCS-2 Little Endian encoding manually, the icon
remains red.
Now, I can tell there wasn't really _any_ change in the text itself, because
I can't undo anything. But how can I tell if the file is still or is not the
same anymore as when I opened it?
How do I know what the original file encoding was? Should I really remember
that when I change to ANSI?

Hello Don,
I have a display problem with my file tabs. Steps to reproduce:
- Open some files until the file tabs aren't fit into the tabs area.
- Close some files until the tabs fit again into the tab area.
Result: Inactive tabs aren't shown.
Best Regards
Jens

Is there a way to run the current file with e.g. Python or LaTeX via a shortcut

NppLightExplorer v1.2 and NppSearchInFiles v1.10 have been reviewed and updated
for Notepad++ v4.1.
They both were beta released three weeks ago, and have been since tested by
some of you people out there.
Thanks to all of you for your testing and time.
These versions are final now, those of you that downloaded the beta versions,
please take time to download the final plug-ins.

Great job Donho,
Love the editor, I just have a few questions.
I know that I can save run commands entries, how do i delete them and how do
I make the changes to the run menu permanent?
Thanks

Split line always split to fit in the window. For example, to split lines at
80 character max, one need to resize the window to show about 80 characters,
and then select split line.
Wouldn't it be easier and usefull if you could select the maximum line width?

This is a nice feature because I normally use this feature in an alternative
text editor (notetab) to rename a file from one extension to another because
file explorer in XP (with hide extension set) and vista does not allow you to
rename a file extension.

I had the same out-of-body experience.
Processes show N++ normalised window was somewhere offscreen not locatable.
Something weird's goin'on with N++ under under mysterious circumstances which
would cause N++ to disappear into thin air like a ghost floating around your
PC but you cannot see it unless you max the window.
I installed a desktop manager, which located the N++ window and pulled it back
into sight. After which, I uninstalled the desktop manager.
I guess reinstalling N++ would have been a simpler affair.

Hi,
Notepad++ seems to be a powerful and nice editor, but I encounter a problem.
The closing brace is not aligned automatically when printing. I.e. I get
if ( a )
{
...
}
instead of
if ( a )
{
...
}
At the same time, if TextFX.Autoclose brace is on, it the automatically added
closing brace is aligned properly. Scintilla can do it also. Is it possible
to set this auto-aligning somehow?
TIA.
