It will probably take years to learn all about Notepad++ ;-)
Your Macro solution was easily done and works perfectly - thanks a lot!
Another question: When I press Home, my cursor goes to the first letter of the
line, pressing it another time it goes all to the front. I would prefer to have
it the other way around. Creating a macro end-home-home didn't work, since it
doesn't seem to lie on the home-button. Any ideas?
Ralph

Ralph,
Your suggestion does what I want, with one exception. The first character of
every line is removed.
1----------1
becomes
* ----------1
I want
* 1----------1
Where is this syntax for expressions explained?
Thanks
Bruce

How about files that have the same name?

Bruce,
You may want to consider another suggestion I posted above. Although it was
in response to the more detailed description you gave in replying to my first
message, it somehow ended up listed before your message.
Regards.
Greg

I know several editors (for example PSPad) that save the backups in
subdirectories
created from their location, i.e. C:\My website\index.html to C:\nppBackups\C\My
website\index.html.2007-05-18_133557.bak. That seems a nice solution to me.

Hi I have a text file that is 3 pages long. I print it in the original notepad
with margins and page breaks disabled and it prints fine. I print with NotePad++
and there are gaps in between the lines of text where the page would end and
header/footers would be. How do I get rid of these gaps?
I have blanked all the header/footer options. I have set the margins to 0. Still
Notepad++ insists on printing gaps.

Greg,
Thanks for the Tab setting suggestion. That helped me get to my desired

I have the same problem, the file type is registered to open with notepad++
(and it does) but the icon won't work. I've tried to re-set the association
in np++'s settings dialog, but that did not help. Another attempt was to extract
the icon from the .exe and to set it in the explorers file type settings, but
that did not work either.
I'm using Windows XP (SP 2, up-to-date) and Notepad++ 4.1.1.

Rename plugins folder in Notepad++ installed directory to make sure the crash
comes from Notepad++.
Is anyone in here has the same problem?

I did a clean install of v3.9 with Notepad++ v3.9 installer.
Then I use Notepad++ v4.1.1 installer to override the v3.9 installation.
For me, there's no crash.
Could you send your xml files in %AppData%\Notepad++ to :
don_DOT_h_AT_free_DOT_fr
?
Don

Ever since I upgraded to 4.1.1 the last document is always opened when
the application opens. It doesn't matter how I set the "Remember the current
session for next launch" setting.
