I recently had to stop working with EditPlus altogether cause it messed up the
only feature i still enjoyed about it: direct FTP access.
I have no idea how much work implementing that would be but it would be a really
helpful tool. Especially when working on script files with no local webserver
and script interpretor installed.

I LOVE this program. I used to HATE programming in PHP... this makes PHP
development
almost not hellish and gawdawful!!

Brilliant!! ...Vern (aka JavaKinetic)

Thank you very much! I'm working on analysing a file format and this make me
easily to watch the internal struct.

The problem is that it isn't supported in Notepad++. See
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/newlineFindReplace-HOWTO.php for the
reason and the workarounds. I find the advanced searched (control+r) without
regex works best for me, using control+M to specify newlines.

"Then use the pop-out menu on the left, hover over the F.A.Q. line, then select
"Newline - Find & Replace FAQ" entry."

The URL for this
is http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/newlineFindReplace-HOWTO.php . I
recommend
the advanced search (control+r) without regex as the most generally successful
technique. Tabs can be specified with control+t, newlines with control+m.

I like this idea. If you do a Save As to do this operation, it changes the
name of the file in the editor. I've often wished MS Word had the same thing
- users are forever doing a Save As to save a copy to a floppy, then forgetting
that all further saves go to the floppy.

Well, Bob, you've been using Notepad++ longer than I have. If it is that much
of a hot button for you, I would encourage you to learn C++, get a compatible
compiler and fix the things that frustrate you. That's the nice thing about
open source -- you can do this. Otherwise you can try to find another tool
closer to your preferences, or hire a contractor to build a custom editor.
Or keep asking for the improvements you want, and wait.

Yes, I would like to know how you would implement this. As I said, maybe
there's
a smart way to do this. My own comments on this will follow in a separate post.

Meanwhile please have mercy on the rest of us. We are all volunteers. No one
is obligated to pay us to do any work on this, and most of those of us who try
to answer questions on this forum are people just like you who don't have any
more say in the matter than you do.

Now for some perspective: While the request is a good one, there are hundreds
of open bugs listed in the bug tracker. After that there are hundreds of
feature
requests -- of which there were (last time I checked) only two "default
extension"
requests in the last six months, with no followup comments by anyone. There
is pretty much just one developer on the project with others that have
contributed
primarily in the form of plugins. My guess is that, since the developer does
this for fun and encouraging user feedback (!), he makes his living working
in a real job.
