"Recently, I was thinking of improving QuickText to its next version, featuring
better configuration files, mirror and randomly ordered hotspots. When I finally
decided to get my hands dirty, I found myself trying to catch up with the C/C++
code I had done a few months ago - its readability was awful. Notepad++ allows
plugins through DLL files that use the Windows messaging system to communicate
with the application - mainly written in C ou C++. It all works beautifully
but not as elegant and as productive as one would wish.

Today I started the pynpp project on Google Code, a plugin that offers Python
plugins to Notepad++. It will feature an API for better and faster programming
of plugins, and of course provide all the wonders of Python.

Also, QuickText will be completelly rewritten in Python and the project will
be moving to Google Code."

I would like to request for the tons of advanced find n replace options that
Crimson Editor has. The option to find and replace newline chars, tab chars,
linefeed chars, end of line etc, are pretty useful for programmers like me.

Also, I would like to recommend the prefix - suffix implementation from the
Shalom text editor. This is again would be a useful feature for programmer.

I really want to move from discontinued text editor like Crimson editor and
Shalom text, to Notepad++. I only it would have the above indispensible features
as above.

Thanks,
Senthil

I found
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1130032&forum_id=331754.
There is an entry that says "On Preferences dialog, MISC tab, uncheck "Remember
the current session for next launch" if you don't want to keep closing the files
you were using the last time." Unfortunately this does not work for me. The
option is unchecked and the files keep reopening...

br,
Florian

That's even better - nice to see you're using svn, and I hope you're doing
regular
commits there :)

Hi!

I am using N++ primarily to check the source code of websites that I am watching
with IE. But everytime I select "View Source Code" from IE's context menu,
former
document are opened as well. Is there a way to turn this behaviour off?

thanks,
Florian

Hi All,

I've a User Defined file with syntax colouring etc which all works very nicely.
However, I cannot get the code folding to work. A common structure is IF...END,
so I entered IF as a Folder Open Keyword and END as a folder Close Keyword.
But nothing happens, no block-lines and no expand/collaps marks.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA
Maarten

I tested opening files directly in N++. I did notice that a file is opened in
secondary view if secondary view has focus. The problem arises if the file is
already opened in the other view.

If the file is open in primary view, I have no means to display it in secondary.
As far as I know, N++ will switch to primary view if I try to open the file,
even if the secondary view has focus - or is it not so?

The reason I need the file opened in exactly the specified view is, that I'm
trying to use the secondary view as a utility view of my plugin. If the file
is opened in primary view and not cloned already, I cannot work with the file.

So, what I really need, is either:
1. When opening a file (NPPM_DOOPEN), if file already opened in the other view,
clone the file to current view.
2. A new message to request cloning of a specific file.

Thanks again!

Hello everybody,

I have a question about Notepad++. Does it have something like function insight
for PHP, you know, when I type a function's name I get a tooltip with the
parameters?
I searched the web, but I didn't find anything about this.

Can I download somewhere an offline version of documentation
at 'tmml.sourceforge.net/doc/tcl' ?
In a form of .chm file, for example ?
This documentation seems to be more detailed than TCL's internal help (the
compiled
.hlp file), but it's not handy for me to read it on-line only.
