I knew whatever I've done, I can not make everybody happy.
But you're right, this behaviour is penalizing those who don't need the auto-add
extension.
I'll think about to remove it (partially) in the next version.

Hi
I am not a php developer but I think that it could be interesting to add that
to the wiki

Please add the .HTA extension to the syntax highlighter. The highlighting
should
be the same as HTML.
HTA stands for HTML Application -- that is, an application written in HTML.
Here is more info on HTA:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms536496.aspx
Here is an example application written in HTA:

OK it isn't as bad as you might think. There can be three solutions here that
I can think of.
1. Have a "Custom Extention" in the file type dropdown. This will allow someone
to put their own extension on the file.
2. Have the Automatic Extension feature as an choice in the Options somewhere.
3. Make it detect if someone has put their own extension on (eg myfile.d) and
if so do not apply the auto extension feature.
Hopefully that helps. :)

Just as a reminder, I updated the CVS version at
http://npp-plugins.cvs.sourceforge.net/npp-plugins/NppPlugins/FTP_synchronize/bu
ild/
in comparison with the last official release many new things were added and
the GUI is polished a bit. CVS is a testversion though, it may be unstable
(although
right now I think it should bem ore stable actually)

Please report your crash problem for FTP_synchronize here (for the reason of
readability).
If FTP_synchronize is stable, I'll consider to include it in the future
release.

NPP has ALMOST everything I'm looking for EXCEPT the subject of this post :(
I run find-in-files A LOT on directories with LOTS of sub-directories which,
obviously, takes a bit of time to complete. I would, of course, like to keep
working while this process is working. This functionality is done REALLY WELL
in MS Visual Studio and it would be GREAT if it can be added to NPP!

Hi,
First, I want to thank whomever implemented the Save as functionality to Npp.
It is
a huge step forward to a great editor.
Secondly, you can please all the people all of the time. One of my solutions
should resolve the issue (I think). In preferences, add a tab where anyone can
add their favorite extensions (including customized). Say, twenty or thirty
(including null or spaces). When a person saves a file load in his or her
extensions.
This leaves it up to the USER to decide how this functionality should work.
If you're using a table to save the extensions, load them into an array in
memory,
at startup, and then load them from the array. This should stop the thrashing
of constantly calling the database to get the extensions. The array will be
in memory, so should be fast loading. I think this will work. If your going
in to make changes anyway, you could do this instead of taking out functionality
and putting different functionality in. It could even cut down on your coding.
I think you are more than half way there already.
neo_bahamut, if you had to create 30 or 40 text files a day maybe you might
see the light. Typing in ".txt" 30 or 40 times is not fun. And, then there are
the times you forget to type anything. And, you try to double click on it in
a Windows Expoler or xplorer squared and it brings up a dialog to say it doesn't
know which program to use to open it. And, you have forgotten what program you
used to create it. Fun and games. I don't have this problem because EVERY other
program I use does put some kind of extension on the files I save. And, when
you double click on the file it opens THE CORRECT application. But, I know if
it has NO extension it is a ".txt" file. So, I know it is a Npp text file. Just
out of curiosity, if you put no extension on your plain text files when you
double click on the file: what happens and why do you do this? I can't think
of one reason.
BOB

No need to cry it out in every forum.
It took me a lot of time to implement it, though it seems a trivial feature.
So stop to thank "whomever" - at least I prefer you thank no one!
