hello
is it possible to get the filename extension with the dot? like it is described
on the homepage.
e.g. "txt" instead of ".txt"

Hello all,
UltraEdit has a very nice feature that I'd really like to see in N++. It is
called "Option (default) to automatically find selected text with find
Next/Prev".
This means that it is possible to select a word, then press F3 and search for
that selected word (or piece of text) without opening the Find dialog. This
is a very quick way of looking up a word, say a function when programming.
Could you consider adding this option?
Thanks for the great software,
Johan

When the cursor is at the end of the second line and I press CTRL+SHIFT+F3 the
0 is selected. This is convenient.
When I press CTRL+SHIFT+F3 again, it is found as the last character of the
previous
line.
This is OK.
When I press CTRL+SHIFT+F3 again, the 0 is found immediately behind the (3)4,
so it skips the middle 0.
This is not OK, guys.

Have similar issues with Windows XP and Latvian symbols... found workaround
-> after starting N++ you should go to Format menu and select "Encode in UTF-8".
It doesn't matter, that this is checked, you need to select it once more :)
Probably there is bug with input handling and defaults loading on startup.

I believe your problem is in the installation of platform SDK the sdk libraries
are not being searched at link time.
Try following instructions at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa700755.aspx

Hello,
I've been trying to set up a user-defined language to make reading
an application-specific log file easier. These files include lines like this:
some prefix or other <: important bit of information that I want
highlighting
in some way\n
(Note that the "\n" is a backslash char then a lower-case 'n')
I hoped to be able to highlight the message portion by defining a comment block
as starting with '<:' and ending with '\n'. The '\n' works fine but '<:' is
not recognised.
Is this possible in Notepad++?
(I'm using v4.1.2 of notepad)
Thanks!
John

NPP is a windows program and relies on the platform SDK. There is no point in
trying to compile on linux. Porting to Linix would require rewriting the whole
user interface and this clearly is a huge task. Wine is a windows emulator which
runs under linux. Its purpse is to rune native windows programs under linux.
If NPP runs under wine there will be no need to recompile, the native windows
compile would work. It is simply a mater of runing wine with npp. This question
would be better asked on a wine forum where there will be the expertise in wine
use to help you.
