I keep having problems with the file extension when choosing "Save As..". For
example, if I open an a page called test.htm, and then choose Save As... and
save it in a different location, it renames it to test.html. This happens even
is I specifically type in the extention manually - it insists on saving it as
*.html, not *.htm.
Another example is that I opened Web.config. Then I save Web.config to the
Desktop,
and made sure that the filename I entered in the Save dialogue said Web.config.
After saving, the new file appeared on my desktop, called Web.txt. Notepad++
truncated the config extension and added its own *.txt extension.
This is really inconvenient, because it forces me to go back and rename each
file after saving in a different location. I modify web files by hand a lot,
and frequently save in other locations just to use as a workspace - so I end
up renaming files all day.
I appreciate that if no extention exists, and that if an extension type exists
in the filetype dropdown, then it should be appended. But when I specifically
add an extension, it should respect that and save the file properly.
Thanks - the product otherwise seems pretty good so far.

try using the user define dialog to edit them rather than editing them directly
- i had much more luck getting my language to work that way... but it does take
some patience and trial and error.

I would like to add an operator symbol to the list of operators. Specifically,
I would like to be able to use '!' as a comment keyword but still allow != to
act as an operator. Is this possible at all?

When opening a Visual Basic .BAS file, I have to keep selecting the language
"VB" to get the color syntax, etc... Is there anyway to automatically select
VB as the language when opening a BAS file?

ok i just downloaded Notepad++ v4.5, installed it, copied some plain text into
a new document (even tried saving a empty new document , then if i click Save,
or Save as, the Save window shows up for a fraction of a second then Notepad++
suddenly crashes with no warning or anything like that. Same thing applies if
i go to File->Save or File->Save As, it just crashes!
i have not made any modification to the settings file, and only have the plugins
that came with the notepad++ installer. Tested on Windows XP SP-2 with
a administrator privileges account .
does anyone know what's wrong?

Yes, add the extension to the list. Go to Styler Configurator, select language
VB / VBS and add your extenstion(s) under "User ext :" under the Style listbox.

Same problem here. I accidently hit Enter on a file in Explorer, which I had
already opened in Notepad++. The file is in my session and because of that
always
has some text selected, which makes it very convenient to copy each time. Now,
because I opened the file again, I lost my selection. I think it would be a
good thing if Notepad++ would bring the file to the front, nothing else, if
it is already open.

Notepad++ won't start after one reboot. It is being "solved" by reinstalling
notepad++, which is obviously not ideal to do every morning. The process still
starts by the way and will keep running, the editor just doesn't show up. It
started a week ago and to my deepest regret I couldn't figure back then what
caused it and could not until now but I will gladly help to debug if you tell
me what to do -- but then again maybe this is a known problem and you can just
tell me what to do? Thanks in advance, if you have any questions, don't hesitate
to ask!
