When I press control-s (save) it exits deleting all I wrote. Obviously an

Thanks so much for this as I had tried using peronalised defuallt exts but if
I use the in-built vb ext as default it works fine.
Don't worry I am very grateful for this program it is a little beauty.
As to my Pedigree, I am actually a dingo in sheep's clothing - an Auzzie living

and pointless dialog :)

No movement shoud be made, but it seems there is, and this i what also a guy

Because searching for the end of line by using $ and replacing this by any

Well. How do you explain that Count button says that regular expression formed
badly for regex "^.*" if there are emty lines in the text, but Find button will
find'em all, one by one, even empty lines? I DO NOT have explanation for this.
I can only assume that Count algorithm is broken.

I've installed version 4.5.
When i open np++ (and no files are opened) and i close np++ again without doing
something, an error occurs.
Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the
application
at location 0x0044ffb1.
Reinstalling np++ does not solve the problem.

Well, I think it's very clear that saying "^ is an ANCHOR" isn't much of
a satisfactory explanation. This holds as true for the $ end of line. So, if
a single begin of line is found by ^ over and over again, this should be exactly
the same for $, using the same options. Currently, it is not in N++. In general
the original request is simply to make this behavior consistent for both
anchors:
the same options should "work as expected" but at least have the same effect
for both. All earlier repliers seem to have totally missed that.
Also, if regular expressions require a real text selection (so a regex
containing
not only ^ or $) to be able to replace, then also the replace text shouldn't
be allowed to be empty, because this causes the problem of matching ^ on the
same line again. In my opinion, I should simply be able to find a ^ or $ and
add some text there by putting it into the Replace field and having nothing
more to worry about.

Hi,
I have an html file which does not validate xhtml. I would like to make it
validate
xhtml, and I know what to do, several find and replace stuff.
But doing this everytime I have this file updated is a mess... Notepad++ macro
system does not allow for this kind of stuff, so I wonder if notepad++ supports
scripting, as doing an extension for that is a bit hard for me, I'm not a C
programmer.
If not I'll have to use pspad, but I prefer notepad++.

You don't know much about compilers, do you? :)
All compilers are command-line executables. All interpreters are command-line
executables. Even if the compiler or interpreter only has a GUI interface (not
command-line) - it can still be run from the command-line.
The best compiler I can think of is Microsoft Visual C++ compiler. There's a
free version of it that comes with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition. There's
also a nice free version of Turbo C++ from Borland. However, both of those only
come packaged with the Integrated Development Environments, so I guess you don't
want them.

A little off-topic, but I think it's important...
Why don't you learn to use google? Or wikipedia? The most important thing for
a programmer is to be able to find information. Now, looks like you have failed
with your very first task - finding a compiler to use.
And, as a last note, I would really recommend to get a full IDE with project
management and debugging features. You don't sound like a professional
programmer,
so you'll only make it harder on yourself by using a text editor and doing it
all The Hard Way...
