Zobo,

As to obtaining a newer Delphi IDE, Turbo Delphi is free and is syntactically
equivalent to BDS 2006. I used Turbo Delphi to develop the color picker plugin.
One drawback to Turbo Delphi is the restriction of adding third-party components
which is probably a non-issue for developing plugin dlls for npp. However, there
is a known hack for adding components to Turbo Delphi.

I am clueless to a best practice for writing a plugin for npp in Delphi. I know
to use Free as opposed to Destroy etc. But I still don't know what is expected
with Register and Unregister as well as other npp / scintilla functions that
the plugin is supposed to communicate with.

I admit that I know next to nothing about debugging and profiling. Sometimes
I just drop a memo onto a form and while the program runs I dump various values
into memo to see what is happening. I know this is crude but I don't know how
to use Dunit or other more elegant methods.

This might be a tall order but I think a special build of Notepad++ that
functions
as a plugin tester could demystify some of our problems.

Don

Hi Don R. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll google about it.

Currently I actually spend most time "debugging" Notepad++, not the plugin,
trying to figure out how the messages flow from one part of the code to
another...

Codign is so much like Kugn fu!

I'm using NPP for few years , it is the best editor I know. Sometimes I'm
writing
source code in C for AVR-GCC. My nightmare is the session file. I used to use
session file as a project file, but there isn't any switch in command line to
force NPP to load session file (it opens as a text file). The second problem
is, the format of this file ? why it changes from version to version ?
Yes, I know, NPP isn't an IDE, but one small switch would resolve all my
problems.
The solution with session.xml is not good, because I have xml files also
associated
with NPP :-)

I'm old Borland C++, and Pascal and avr-gcc programmer. The absence of numbered
bookmarks in NPP is big drowback. I think, lot of people is waiting only for
numbered bookmarks, to switch to NPP editor.

Sure, they all refuse to use N++ until this very specific feature will have
been implemented.

I'd love this in Notepad++. I think it should be fairly simple:

- Line breaking right after opening a { brace adds one tab to the added line.
- Starting a line with } removes one tab on that line.

Also, it's annoying when it this happens:

- There's a block of indented code.
- I add a line break, then I remove the automatically added tab.
- I add another line break and it tabs it again.

I am running Notepad++ on a Dell laptop and keep the editor in the second screen
(on my left);

However, i found out that the autocompletion list does not appear on the left
screen but stay on the right screen at the extreme left.

It happened with the previous versions and with last version (4.7.5).

Any plans to fix this?

Is there a way to set the default file type to "*.TXT"?

I'm using Notepad++ to open and save files and save them as TXT files in a
directory
with other file type extensions.

I can easily select TXT from the file type dropdown, but it would be nice if
it defaulted to "TXT".

Thanks. Nice program too!

This is not exactly the bug of the document switcher

It is the bug only of the shortcut mapper for it.

I mean to say, when you change the shortcut key "Ctrl-Tab" of the document
switcher
using the shortcut mapper, it only changes the shortcut key for the "entry
point"
of the document switcher, but it does not change the in-built Ctrl-Tab shortcut
key
inside the document switcher itself.

I mean to say, suppose, using shortcut mapper, you change the
shortcut key of the "Document Switcher"
from "Ctrl-Tab" to "Alt-CAPSLOCK" and
from "Ctrl-Shift-Tab" to "Alt-Shift-CAPSLOCK"

and then press "Alt-CAPSLOCK" to use the Document Switcher

then you find that after pressing "Alt-CAPLOCK" the "Document Switcher" strip
comes at the center of the screen but it does not go away when you release
"Alt-CAPLOCK". It does not go away using any key.

It ONLY goes away when you anyhow press "Ctrl-Tab" and then release it.

Dear Harry,

I don't use a dualcore system.
The Plugin/Notepad++ is still responsive with this high CPU usage but I have
to restart Notepad++ to resolve the problems.

I do not have enabled the keep alive feature.

Yes auto-save is enabled (default I believe), I've never changed it.
It is a beautiful feature.
I'm most of the time connected and use it many times to save and auto-upload
the changed file.
I use it many times to keep the connection alive and to view immediate the
change
on the server.

What do you mean with "with the explorer icons still enabled"?

btw I don't use filezilla and totalcommander ftp anymore with this great plugin,
thank you :)

Would it be possible to drag and drop new files to the server?
