Try this:
Settings > Preferences > Edit Components (tab). In the "Vertical Edge Setting"
section, there should be a "Number of columns:" option. Click on the number
to change it.

OK, so now notepad++ is a entity for urging "full freedom" for all human kind
instead of an open source project? I believe GNU is free of religious tendency,
so you are TOTALLY OFF the line. Please, take of your so-called Free OSS hat,
stop your work for all unliterated Chinese people, and go for your "Freedom

Sigh---but how do we DO this remapping? What are the "proper home/end
functions"?
(This is also why software developers don't write good documentation...)
Okay, I fooled around with it and figured out what to do:
1. On the Settings menu, click Shortcut Mapper. The Shortcut Mapper window
appears.
2. Click the Scintilla Commands button.
3. In the list, find the commands below. Right-click each one, click Modify,
then change each shortcut as follows:
SCI_VCHOME: None
SCI_LINEEND: None
SCI_HOMEDISPLAY: Home (clear the "ALT" checkbox)
SCI_LINEENDDISPLAY: End (clear the "ALT" checkbox)
(After you make the change in each command's "Shortcut" window, click Apply,
then click OK.)
You may also want to change these commands, so Home/End extends a selection
to the start/end of the current line instead of the whole paragraph:
VC_HOMEEXTEND: None
VC_HOMEDISPLAYEXTEND: None
SCI_LINEEXTEND: Shift+Home
SCI_LINEDISPLAYEXTEND: Shift+End

I am using v4.8.2 and would like to edit a large amount of files and only
deleting
part of the first line. The problem is I would like to keep the original
date/time
but Notepad is changing it to the current date/time.
Is there a possibility to keep the date/time?
