I am sorry but I do not follow what you are saying. All I am proposing, is to
have a button to open all documents after the search in files function is used
to search all files in a directory. It does a good job of displaying the found
results, but there is no way to then open the files, unless you go one by one.
That is alot of work if you need to update one string in many files.
For instance, I use Notepad++ to create all my webpages, if for some reason
I find something I typed wrong or want to update a string found in all my pages,
then I need to open each page individually that would take forever. If i had
the option to Open the selected files, from the list generated from the "find
in files" function, i then could open the documents i want with one click, and
then use the already existing function to 'replace all in all open documents'
to replace all occurrences.
It is one simple addition to two already existing tools found in Notepad++.
It is a bridge between both tools.

Possible workflow:
Open DOC in OOo, save as ODT. Then unzip the odt file (it's a zip archive),
and open content.xml in Npp. Then replace content.xml in the zip with the
modified
one.

Next thing you'll want is to automatically save all those changed open
documents.
There is a way to simply open those documents: find them by using an external
tool that does the same.
This has been discussed before, however.
So you might just as well use an external tool to replace those occurrences
in the first place.

I know there have been a lot of discussions already about having a multiple
windows option in npp, I don't want to revisit that.
What I need some help with is how to create a context menu for files to be
opened
in a separate instance of npp (which basically is like open in a new window).
I tried to straight up regedit but it did not work or my programming skills
arent up to the task of making it work.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Notepad\command]
@="C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe %1"
Another (better) option would probably to be editing the Context Menu dll file.
Please help and thanks in advance

This should work:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open with Notepad\command]
@="C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe" -multiInst "%1"
keep the %1 in its own quotes, filenames with spaces work better that way, I
think.

I want to take and insert text from one document to a location on antoher for
example
I have a SQL statement like so
EXEC sp_detach_db '', 'false'
now i have a list of databases on another sheet like so (but there are 1,000s
of them)
database1
database2
database3
I want to take the database name and insert it between the ''s like so
EXEC sp_detach_db 'database1', 'false'
EXEC sp_detach_db 'database2', 'false'
EXEC sp_detach_db 'database3', 'false'
Is there an easy way of scripting this or am I just stuck cutting and pasting?
Thanks in advance
C~

Use regex:
find: ^(.*)$
replace: EXEC sp_detach_db '\1', 'false'
see if it works

Found and fixed the bug, hopefully the fix will be in the next release:).
The problem was that HTML was using 7 bits on the byte for styling, everything
else was using about 5.
Those extra bytes werent cleared when switching language, and so if one of those
extra bytes was being set (such as in a script tag, which results in the blue
HMTL background), switching languages would result in something unexpected,
eg the squiggly underlines. (btw I had to set the language to HTML instead of
XML
