Whenever I try to open a .txt file, I get an error message saying "blahblah.txt
is not a valid Win32 application."
HOWEVER, when I right-click and select "Edit with Notepad++", it opens the file
fine.
When I installed Notepad++, I used the option to replace it with Windows
Notepad,
but it failed to work. Windows Notepad still works fine.
Specs:
Notepad++ v4.8.5
Windows XP Home Ed. Service Pack 2

I use eclipse for most of my java programming, but I remember that when I first
started I coded in textpad, which supported compiling, all i had to do was ctrl
1 to compile and ctrl 2 to run, is Notepad ++ ever going to support anything
like this?

I couldn't find this functionality (if it is inside please let me know)
1. File> Save a copy as...
2. File> Rename (this is not common in apps, but would be handy to rename
the open file from within the editor)
but N++ is still the best editor out there!!

Thanks, but that only explains how to add/delete styles.
My problem is that the language seems only to be recognized by extension, not
by filename.
While most of my files that end on .txt are plain textfiles that shouldn't show
any highlighting at all some of them are configuration files with comments and
syntax. But they also end on .txt which can't be changed, so I wondered how
to deal with that and assign the correct style.
