I am seeing an issue in the UNICODE version, but apparently not in the ANSI
version: If I open a second view (View -> Clone to another view), the CPU usage
jumps to a constant 50% (100% of one CPU core), but as soon as I close the
second
view the CPU usage drops back to normal.

notepad++ is really great.
Only during my test activities I often go back to other snapshots. Due to the
regulair updates of notepad++.
the version on that snapshot is most of the time out dated.
I will have eather a popup every time i start notepad Or have to
download/install
notepad while the snapshot will not be saved again.
a checkbox ask me again next week|| next reboot || next release will be much
better.
And yes I do update notepad and the rest of the VM before i install a new IR
version of the stuff i test

I have a question regarding UTF8-encoded text files. Is there a way to have
NP++ omit the 3-byte sequence that it (and other editors) insert at the
beginning of the file when encoding text as UTF8?

It would be great if a feature was added that made it possible to do horizontal
highlighting with the mouse like in n edit. nedit allows the user to highlight
in 2d. Its a very handy feature.
As an example:
function(argument1, 0, 0)
function(argument2, 0, 1)
function(argument3, 1, 0)
function(argument4, 1, 1)
This feature would allow one to highlight only arguments1-4 without highlighting
the function name, the parenthesis, or the other arguments, and lets one cut
or copy (or paste). The resulting paste would look like:
argument1
argument2
argument3
argument4
note: In n edit, this is done but pushing Crtl while lighlighting with
the mouse.

In Notepad++, this is done by pressing Alt while highlighting with the mouse.
(And has been since, oh, version 3 or so.)

It seems TAB is preserved in system and impossible to be set for hotkeys.
That is something make me miss Textmate bundles.

Hi! Thanks for making an excellent editor. I use NP++ daily!
On the plugins page, I saw a suggestion by "Stepho" to use NP++ as a "NotePad
Replacement". Great suggestion, but for those persons wary of / unable to /
unauthorised to, modify their PC that much, maybe my suggestion may be helpful.
I've only tested it under Windows XP SP3. Also, it's not a true notepad
replacement;
it's just a quick way of starting NP++ from the Windows "Run" interface.
Create a shortcut to NP++. (You could use the Windows "Start" menu, browse
to the application shortcut, right click, and choose the "Send to Desktop
(create
shortcut)" option). Rename it to a simple and friendlier name; I chose NotePP.
Then drag and drop that shortcut into the "C:\WINDOWS\system32" folder.
Now whenever you need to start NPP quickly, simply go "Start | Run ... " and
type NotePP and enter.
