ahh ic... i also used the NP++ installer, but i did not allow it to modify the
file associations, nor Explorer's context menu (cause that invariably causes
problems/conflicts with other apps, so i prefer to manage that myself)
so i guess it's a Windows (Explorer) issue, in that it doesn't allow the user
to modify the application's Open With description... but how come the NP++
installer
is able to do this? i assume the Description is stored somewhere in the
registy,
perhaps under HKCR... i'll take a look.

Nono, its not that you can modify it...
It just adds a new item in the context menu.... you have Open, Print, Cut, Copy,
Rename, Properties, and somewhere it adds a new one that says Edit with
Notepad++

right, i understand, but since i don't use NP++ that often, i'd prefer to have
NP++ appear only on the Open With flyout menu (not the main context menu), and
with a much shorter description. i also don't like it when apps inject their
.dlls into the Explorer shell, b/c it can make a mess of the menus and cause
conflicts with other apps and/or Explorer itself

btw, thanku daniel for taking the time to followup.
there is a list of program descriptions in the registry
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache
i found NP++ listed in there and modified its description, so it now appears
on the Open With menu as per my changes... hopefully it will stick, but if i
remember correctly, the program descriptions listed in the MUICache revert to
their apps' built-in descriptions, after restarting the Explorer shell (or a
reboot).
cheers / f

I have tried to open a Log file (> 250 MByte) with notepad++ and got the
following
error message: "File ist too big to be opened by Notepad++".
Is there a filesize limit for notepad++?

I have been having dire problems using this since getting Vista - I have tried
running it in 'compatibility' mode with no success, has anyone else managed
to get i working under Vista?
(problem is the screen gets corrupted the minute you try and edit anything)
Shame, as I really like this tool!
Cheers
Chris

Heyall...
i have recently installed NotePad++ 5.0.3.. i downloaded the
FunctionList_2_alpha.zip
and i've done everithinf that it says in the HOWTO file... i even read some
posts here about it... everithing is done "by the book" BUT: when i
open the function list window (in the right of the screen), no function is
displayed.
I checked also ShowAllFunctions but nothing shows... I also opened the plugin
from the menu and selected PHP for ex., or C++ and nothing happens.
Another problem... i saw on some printscreens that NotePad++ is also suggesting
some functions while typing... again... nothing happens... can someone help
me please in this matter...?!? I know i am maybe a little newbie with some
things
but come on.... not even when i make everithing "by the book" as told before,
nothing seams to work... :((
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
Great editor, great plugin - thanks for all your excellent work!
Please correct me if I'm worng, but I understand it is currently not possible
to use end-of-line characters (\r, \n, $) in the function list group rules (i.e.
in function begin/funciton list name/function end) because Scintilla strips
them from the regular expressions before they are parsed.
Is there ANY workaround I can use to make the following function appear in the
function list?
void
my_function( void)
{
<function body>
}
Thanks in advance for your help...
