There's a plugin that helps with writing html code in the Notepad++ Plugins
project. I don't remember if it was in the TextFX plugin, or another
HTML-specific
plugin, but it had an option to automatically add the closing tag immediately
after the cursor when you closed the first tag. You can try contacting the
author of that plugin to see if he is willing to implement the rest of your
suggestion.

That did the trick. Possible future feature that allows a zero length line
to be selected when in column mode.
Thanks,
Al

Just to clarify, it would be nice that if in column mode, you can just select
a column (with mouse or shift-arrow) and enter your characters (space or
otherwise)
without all the alt-shift-arrow, alt-c stuff.

Nope, only global namespace will work correctly. Autocomplete will only look
for words consisting of AZaz09_

It is very unfortunate that such a great application has such poorly organized
documentation.
There's plenty of information available about the various features in NP++,
but it is scattered around a number of different locations including the main
web site, the sf wiki and these forums (most topics are covered in these forums,
however searching the forums is not a quick task).
It would be nice to have one central location with all of the general user
documentation available and up-to-date.

Perhaps there could be some code added (or a plugin made) which could do this.
However Notepad++ is not a commercial or dedicated html/web page editor, it
is a multi-purpose code editor, meant to support a large number of languages,
so you shouldn't expect a lot of the html/web page-specific editing features
that commercial or dedicated editors will have.
You can take a look over at the Notepad++ Plugins project to see if there are
any of those which might help.

Using for CSS, written like so:
#content{
margin-right:5px;
overflow:auto;
font-family:Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica;
font-size:x-small;
}
...would like to know if there is a tool to TOGGLE to this:
#content{margin-right:5px; overflow:auto; font-family:Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica;
font-size:x-small;}
...and back again.
I see TextFX / TextFX Edit / Unwrap Text - but this is not what I need.
Thank you,
David

After doing three days of intensive research in the wisely hidden Notepad++
forums, reading all the boolshid messages I have been writing during some
unknown
episode I must have been having, I found something which may just interest you,
being slightly relevant to the problem you encountered - I can't say for sure,
because my mind is still foggy.
Judge by yourself, by reading the message

Is there any chance to see something like the "Elastic Tabstops" being
implemented?
Nick Gravgaard had this really cool idea of a better "Tab" Handling. See
http://nickgravgaard.com/elastictabstops/ for info. I know not a single Editor
on Windows which is trying to do this...
