Would it be possible to deactivate the option "Remember the current session"
by default? I find this option annoying...

Thanks kliu0x52, that's what I meant
Open Notepad++, memory usage = 8 092 Kb
Open 5 documents (sizes between 9Kb and 12Kb), memory usage = 12 176 Kb
Close all documents, mem usage = 15 844 Kb
Open same previous 5 documents, mem usage = 19 420 Kb
Close all documents, mem usage = 22 996 Kb
Open same previous 5 documents, mem usage = 26 560 Kb
I think that there is some mem cleanup to be done when closing docs.

Try running without any plugins and see if this fixes the issue. If it does,
try re-enabling plugins one at a time to find the guilty one.
I did a little test with my version, but I can't really say whether the results
are plainly memory fragmentation or leak (since memory consumption doesn't
*just*
increase). NP++ should be instrumented for leaktesting :)
5.0.3 - plugins: light explorer, spell-checker, 4 of my own custom plugins
I'm looking at "Virtual Memory -> Private Bytes" memory statistic. Opening files
by selecting them in explorer and hitting enter, closing them by holding
Cltr+F4.
No files, 5 files (1.3meg total)

Thank you for the information.
I think I found the culprit: it seems to be the auto-complete feature.
I tried N++ 5.2 unicode clean install and renaming or removing the plugins\APIs
folder clearly improves the memory usage.
I used the Windows Task Manager to measure memory usage on my first post.
Among the 5 files, some are xml, php and css files

Can you make Notepad++ Drag files and folders name into text ?
(Drag and Drop files and folders name into Notepad++)
it's hard to rename every files and folders and copy it's name and save it to
Text, there is other software do this but if Notepad++ do it it will be a good
feature.
Thanks

OK, sounds like that's a starting point for DonHo :)
I would advise you to use Process Explorer
( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx ) instead of
task manager, by the way. It has better features and... stuff :)

Hi abc1232,
Try this:
- Settings -> Preferences
- inside the "Global" tab, you'll find a box for Toolbar (having 4 radio
buttons)
- set it to the one you like (I use "Small standard icons")
Hope this helps.
- Googie

when a comment contains <? then the rest lines will be displayed as a normal
text instead of a PHP
example:
<?php
// comment comment <?xml> comment comment
$data = 'hi, notepad++';
..
...
..
..
?>
the "<?" in the above comment will get the rest of codes displayed in black
color

I just would like to know how I can turn the stupid purple off.
It is really annoying me as I try to highlight and copy paste info because it
is the word you are working on and hides the grey which indicates what is
actually
selected. So I keep leaving bits of the word or sentence behind.
I've looked through the topics and menus and I can't find it. Please, some
instructions so I can get back to just working and not being distracted by this
silly purple!!
