He probably just searched the forum for a bad search thread or added a real
old version to the end.
Do you mind telling us exactly what version you are using?
Plus, it's always better to update by downloading the .exe files under Download
on:
notepad-plus.sf.net

I had that problem before when I was quick fixing digiclub.org.
Except, the problem was that W3C's online validator kept telling me that there
were special characters in my HTML file when it displayed properly...
Try:
Going to Format and selecting Convert to UTF-8 without BOM
And try again, which made W3C happy and the page layout and text still looks
the exact same.
If you want, do a Google for BOM and you'll get what that is...

I don't know about you, but I hate the FTP plugin which always has problems
and crashes.
Anyways, version please.
Reminding you that Windows 7 is always unsupported, even on Mines...

I agree. When you get to the location where there are three downloads, choose
npp.x.x.Installer.exe , not npp.x.x.bin.zip. The Installer.exe will look after
everything for you.

The area set aside for the plugin settings files is \plugins\Config. Remember,
plugins are developed by other volunteers. They decide how settings are stored.
The N++ program provides an area for the plugins in the installation setup.

Hey there,
I have only recently started using notepad++,it's a great piece of software,only
drawback is that it's sorta ugly if you know what i mean.My question is if there
is a way to customize the way N++ looks beyond Styler configurator.Specifically
the tabs bar and make it look like EmEditor tab bar or firefox tab bar!
Thanks in advance folks,any help is greatly appreciated! :)

when you are trying to update from program it will tell you that there is no
new update,i`m using npp.5.2 and in the update file <?php
$lastestVersion = 4.5;
$lastestVersionStr = "4.5";
$DLURL = "http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=95717&filename
=npp.4.5.Installer.exe";

I have tried to look and search the net, but can't find it. I do find a plugin
for XML syntax Check, but I doubt it is useful for my needs.

I've been trying to find out for a while now how to enable Call Tips
(Function Parameter Hints) for the C language in Notepad++ but I can't seem
to get it working? Can someone direct me on how to do this?
Also, Auto-indentation seems to have been lost after updating to v5.2; has
anyone else encountered this and is there a solution?

Ugly! You said 'sorta ugly'!! What do you expect, a multimedia razamataz type
user interface? ;-)
Seriously, text editors are the workhorses of text where word processors don't
go. People that use them usually demand power and functionality over frills
and lace.
The toolbar can be customised by making the icons smaller or by substituting
them for another set - see themes at foot of page
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/download.php.
If want a totally different look you'll probably have to write a plugin.
