You know what, there may still be problems with the menu text, since those
strings
are required to become 2 bytes per character instead of 1 byte. If it won't
crash on startup, then use it, otherwise just wait for the next release.

Thank you once again for your prompt reply and instructions. You are really
my hero these days.
After more than a year I think I can easily wait for the new release, my neck
is anyway broken already from constantly looking down towards the bottom of
the screen for editing the last line :)

thank you,
Fixedsys doesn't work, but yes Terminal does work.
however this font isn't very scalable, it is far less confortable to use than
the default Courrier New... moreover I zoom in/out a lot
since NFO style displays accents ok with Courrier New, it's very likely some
trick can be found to use it for batch editing with accents...
see you

1/ Go to line 10,001
2/ Click at the beginning of the line
3/ Press Ctrl+Shift+Home
4/ Press Delete
Fast enough?
Oops that deletes the lineS before 10,000. To delete a single line, triple click
it (or click the gutter to select it) and delete.

Try the following macro, to be inserted in the <Macros> section of
shortcuts.xml.
Edit preferrably with Notepad, N++ being closed:
<Macro name="OEM_charset" Ctrl="yes" Alt="yes" Shift="no" Key="100">
<Action type="0" message="2066" wParam="32" lParam="255" sParam=""
/>
</Macro>
Then reopen Notepad++, and fire the macro.
The following macro reverts the change:
<Macro name="ANSI_charset" Ctrl="yes" Alt="yes" Shift="no" Key="101">
<Action type="0" message="2066" wParam="32" lParam="0" sParam="" />
</Macro>
Change key bindings from Shortcut mapper as you see fit.
Not tested, but should work _if your font supports the OEM character set_.

Add a 0-byte length file named C:\Program Files\Notepad++\doLocalConf.xml
And you'll see the new macros.
You are using two sets of config files, one from %APPDATA%\Notepad++\, one from
C:\Program Files\Notepad++\ . Another option would be to move the modified
shortcuts.xml to the %APPDATA% stuff, but you need to look into Start Menu ->
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced where that environment vatriable points
to. That's why I check "Don't use APPDATA" on the installer.
Looks good to go otherwise.

I'm having trouble with undocking and moving dialogs in Notepad++ version 5.4.1.
With both the NppExec dialog and the Find All in All Documents dialog I can
undock them and move them but I can only move them VERY slowly. I'm looking
for a little confirmation if anyone else is having similar trouble before I
submit a bug report. Also if anyone already knows of a solution that would
be great. I'm running a Vista 32bit Ultimate machine if that makes
a difference.

Apparently, you must fire the macro first, then change font. And change it twice
so that the change is being seen.
