The font Notepad++ users probably does not have these glyphs and displays the
boxes. WIndows Notepad uses Lucida Console by default, Notepad++ Courier new.
Lucida probably has a larger set of glyphs. Try changing the default font to
something else and see if it fixes the issue (Dejavu (Sans mono) is a free font
that supports many glyphs, you could try that if you cant find anything that
works well).

Concerning the long line issue, did you try toggling on View -> Word wrap?

Did you create the language from the User Define Language panel, or as an XML
file?
Are you using the latest version of N++ (5.4.3)?
What exactly happens on the crash? Is a NppSump.dmp file created? If so,
emailing
it to donho would help.

Works for me with both ANSI and Unicode, no icon themes around. What is your
OS, Does restarting Notepad++ help?

Vista hates it when someone tries to access a Document and Settings folder.
Try moving your config files to D:\Program files\Noteoad++\, and add a zero
byte doLocalConf.xml file there. Should work.

Hi,
Did you enable UTF-8 formatting? You can do that by going to Format menu>Encode
UTF-8 (or if yo want to convert an existing file, choose convert to UTF-8).
You may notice there's a "UTF-8 without BOM" option, which I fond I needed with
php, otherwise extra characters would appear.
If you are in fact using UTF-8, then you might be suffering from the same issue
I'm having with characters in Windows 7, if you're using this OS.

The Np++ resources page on the NpWiki++ side bar already has links
to IdeaTorrent.
Since the main site will need a little remodeling with the old FAQ going away
- non english FAQs are a problem -, the linking to IdeaTorrent will wait a
little
perhaps.

I haven't tried this, but could help:
1/ Define one or more user languages. No keywords nor operators, just the
default
font set as you wish for the intended file(s).
2/ If possible, associate your files to some custom extension, and bid those
extensions to your user defined languages.
3/ If step 2/ is not an option, then use the Language menu to turn on your
favorite
highlighter, which will only perform a font change.
