It seems v5.4.5 is stable enough to trigger auto-updater.
If there's no more report in this thread this week, Auto-updater will be

"Alt+F5" or Menu Run->"Open File" at results in a dialog box saying
"C:\Programme\Notepad++\config.php doesn't exist. Create it?"
although the file config.php lies byside the current active file.
Any suggestion to open the file relative to the active one?

Can you consider updating the N++ icon to something that is higher res? In
the default Windows 7 taskbar setup, the icons are larger than XP and Vista
and this leads to the N++ icon looking very unpolished.

1/ You can turn backups off from Settings -> Preferences ->
Backup/Auto-completion.
Default is Simple mode.
2/ At any rate, if your file manager is not more friendly than Explorer is,
you can always open cmd.exxe, cd to the folder of the backup folder and type
"rm nppBackup". You can use Start -> Run for that, but then you must provide
the full path.

Run -> Open conaining folder , and then select the file to open.
Or call shortcuts.xml to the rescue. You can see that Open file is defined as
$(NPP_DIRECTORY)\notepad++.exe $(CURRENT_WORD)
Edit the command to read as
$(NPP_DIRECTORY)\notepad++.exe $(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(CURRENT_WORD)
You may need double quotes here and there.
How about changing the stock Open file, or adding a new Open file in containing
folder ?

Modifying shortcuts.xml worked for me.
Shouldn't $(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(CURRENT_WORD) be default at this place? I think
it makes more sense.

Josie just gave me her Notepad++ crash configuration :
AMD Turion 64 + Windows Vista
I wonder if Notepad++ crashes only on 64 bits machine.

I mean that with notepad++ bak files are stored, but when you close it would
be delete like in the ms word delete temporary files after closing, no delete
manually

Hi,
Notepad++ is also crashing on my PC with the actual version, and also the last
versions. I have an 32 bit PC with XP Pro.
I use the standard installation, only with an additional programming language
ABAP.
I get also a dump file - does it helps you?
