Notepad v5.7 on Win7, but also in earlier versions on XP:
The 'In selection' option in the Find dialogue appears not to restrict the
search to the selection. For example, load the Notepad++ readme.txt, select the
first line - the Sel: in the bottom status area shows that it is selected -
open Search/Find, select the 'In selection' option and search for free, or
anything else that isn't in the selection, using 'Find Next'. It selects the
specified target string - in this case the word free in line 4. Shouldn't the
'In selection' box prevent this from being found outside the selection?
Can't find anything in the forums about this - is it a know problem?

When I checked the shortcut mappings, mine were still set yet when I hit CTRL-
S, a DC3 control character kept showing up. My ultimate fix action was simply
verifying the mapping settings, saving my projects, closing all Notepad++, and
then reopening. I have not gotten the DC3 control char since.

You probably have a "search result not found" dialog box open. Close this and
everything goes back to normal.

I have been looking on the Internet to find information about compiling
.java files inside the Notepad++ env.
I keep getting error message the system file cannot be found Could anyone
help with this situation I cannot figure it
out when I press f6 to execute .java file.
The file is inside the Notepad++ folder in program files.
