Ravi Mutyala commented on ACCUMULO-1610:
----------------------------------------
Same as ACCUMULO-1615. Didn't realize there was an issue for this and created
ACCUMULO-1615. That issue is resolved now with a patch. I think this issue can
be closed as well.

> Project: Accumulo
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 1.5.0
> Reporter: Michael Berman
>
> if you're running accumulo as its own user and have hdfs permissions for
> /accumulo locked down to only that user, `service accumulo stop` throws an
> error that root can't touch /accumulo. it looks like the cause is that
> $TARGET_USER isn't set to anything in the init.d script's stop) path.
