It only goes down the Cwd::cwd() path if it can't find $ACCUMULO_HOME, and it's
perl, so you don't get the undefined subroutine error unless that line actually
executes, so probably whoever ran the agitator for 1.6.0 validation just
happened to have that env var set.
If the new language choice were up to me, I'd say if it's too complicated for
/bin/sh, all java all the time :-)
