When creating the directory of hard-links fails because a resource file is missing and needs to be downloaded, it may be the case that other files which have already been hard-linked, were also removed from the resources directory. When the redownload occurs, these hard-links are abandoned, and all missing resources are redownloaded. However, we can avoid redownloading the ones that we already hard-linked into the working directory and which were removed from the resources directory, by hard-linking them back into the resources directory before the redownload occurs. That prevents unnecessary downloads and minimizes the use of additional storage from extra copies, if there were hard-links to those same deleted resources in other working directories. Similarly, the download code could check for any existing hard-link for the resource in any of the working directories, in order to avoid downloading something when it could just be reused from another directory. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
