Ivy can't handle POMs that reference the groupId internally using the property
${groupId}.

http://repository.jboss.com/maven2/org/hibernate/hibernate-c3p0/3.3.1.GA/hibernate-c3p0-3.3.1.GA.pom
I'll attach a simple patch in the hope this can be fixed for 2.0-RC1.
