I really dislike this solution since we're not really making any use of the 
composite key (except when it is exact match). What we should do IMO, is to 
make the cursor be able to carry the predicates along with it and perform kind 
of a binary search on each change of outer field value.

Not sure how difficult this would be but I assume it won't be very difficult. 
(I think it would take about a week of work)
