I would also love to have such a feature. My databases need to be sent to 
PouchDB, and currently the requests take 14 minutes to send everything from 
couchdb to pouchdb. If we could gzip the results, I'm sure we could cut that 
time in half at least. This feature would be an amazing boon for us.
