cTAKES currently is built on top of the UIMA Framework. The learning curve in
adopting and using cTAKES is steep and could be overwhelming to a new user.
I am proposing to create an interface, either and/or a CLI or a GUI that
shields the user from having to understand the complexities with UIMA,
Annotators, jCAS, etc.
This would potentially require
- Refactoring of the public cTAKES API's.
- Creating a REST/SOAP and/or CLI interface
To perform the most common use cases:
- Read in plaintext medical documents
- Run a default pipeline
- Have a standard mechanism to extract the cTAKES output
