As per RFC https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/GEODE/Enhance+Off-heap+memory+fragmentation+visibility Geode's off-heap fragmentation visibility has been improved by adding a new stat: freedChunks as well as by the periodic update of the largestFragment stat. The new one stat will also be periodically updated with a default frequency of one hour that can be changed by the update-off-heap-stats-frequency-ms system property.
