Thanks for identifying the conflicting examples. The current [`multipleDatasources` guide](https://github.com/apache/grails-core/blob/8.0.x/grails-doc/src/en/guide/conf/dataSource/multipleDatasources.adoc) consistently documents the default connection under top-level `dataSource` and additional named connections under `dataSources`, including environment overrides. The correction landed in [b2f7501](https://github.com/apache/grails-core/commit/b2f750149c9bb50b5d3aadc9283ecd2ee1501e85) on March 24, 2017.
