When the association was already joined in the query, resolving the collection path against the query context returned the Join instead, throwing a ClassCastException inside Hibernate's SqmCriteriaNodeBuilder. Unwrap any Join expression to its parent collection attribute before passing it to collection predicates in PredicateGenerator, and add upgrading notes in grails-doc.
