The compiler merges the hand-authored META-INF/grails.factories under src/main/resources into the grails.factories it generates, and the grails-cli.factories under src/main/resources and src/cli/resources into the grails-cli.factories it generates. None of them was an input of the compilation, so adding, editing or deleting one left compileGroovy and the cli tier's compileCliGroovy up to date, and the generated file kept what the previous version said until a source changed as well. The auto-configuration imports file was the only one declared. They are now declared on compileGroovy, by the Grails Gradle plugin for applications and plugins and by build-logic for the framework's own modules, and the grails-cli.factories files on the cli tier's compilation as well. As inputs that are not sources, a change to one makes Gradle recompile in full, which writes the generated file again. Fixes #16007 @jamesfredley @matrei this is one of the blockers for turning on caching in the Grails build. As we start defining proper inputs for Gradle, we'll be able to better adopt caching by default in our CI runs. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
