-----------------------------------------

paulk-asert opened a new pull request, #2989:
URL: https://github.com/apache/groovy/pull/2989

A fresh implementation of the GroovyFX ideas, structured like groovy-swing:
SceneGraphBuilder registers JavaFX nodes through SwingBuilder-style register*
groups, with one reflective NodeFactory for the common shape and small
factories only where JavaFX deviates (stages, scenes, BorderPane positions,
charts, table columns, bind). @FXBindable turns Groovy properties into lazily
created JavaFX properties, with a GEP-21 stubber for joint compilation.
FXExtensions supplies the operator names JavaFX spells differently (plus,
minus, div, negative, concat) plus onChange/onInvalidate, and GroovyFX.start
launches without an Application subclass.

JavaFX is GPL-2.0 with the Classpath Exception and published per platform,
so it is compileOnly and never bundled; FXRuntime reports the ways to obtain it
when it is missing. Tests run the toolkit headless through openjfx-monocle,
whose 21.x builds need Java 21, so the toolkit tests are enabled for Java 21
and later; the property, binding and transform tests need no toolkit and run
everywhere.

> Please include the project
> [GroovyFX|[http://groovyfx.org|http://groovyfx.org/]] into the Apache Groovy
> repository. The public repository is
> [here|https://github.com/groovyfx-project/groovyfx]. The project is very
> nice, something similar to groovy-swing. There has been no updates to that
> project, and there are compatibility issues with latest OpenJDKs.
> JavaFX is the highest standard regarding User Interfaces. The project is very
> nice and there are users interested in it.
