The "After setup operations" list ends with sending a mail to a personal Gmail or Yahoo account and running a scoring service. Both steps work, and together they still leave the operator without the one answer that matters on a fresh deployment: did the message land in the inbox, and at which providers. Sending to your own Gmail address tests your own Gmail address. A new cluster usually means a new sending IP with no reputation, and the common failure is not a broken configuration but a correct configuration whose mail is filed as junk at some receivers and not at others. The other case this misses is a signature that James produced correctly and something in front of it altered in transit, which is invisible unless authentication is checked on the delivered copy rather than on the DNS record. So this adds one bullet next to the existing one, covering placement across a set of providers and authentication verified on what arrived. Disclosure: the linked service is mine. It is free, requires no account, and I have no stake in whether this is merged. Rewording, swapping the link for another placement checker, or closing this are all fine, and I will not follow up. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
